It’s time to write down the second part of the reportage about shopping in Munich, in which I’ll tell you about places that are greatly celebrated on the online and book guides and the web magazines and bloggers; in these posts we will find out if they are right or not!

Funf Hofe, the shopping mall with a stunning urban design concept

Funf Hofe is a shopping centre composed by five aisles, and this fact obviously gives the name to the complex. Each space was designed by several architects, and you can really see that the locations were conceived with the aim of creating a vivid and pleasant atmosphere with an elegant mood; it was not easy to gather many different shops creating a situation that makes you feel fine and at ease. You will not perceive any sense of theatrical, staged typical of many shopping malls, because the sensation is that it was created by chance. The food points are very nice and tempting, the one I think I would like the most is Dean and David Fresh to eat, a gorgeous café in the open air.

I would like you to be able to see  the aisle whose ceiling is a pensile garden, and  in which the climbing plants blend with the lighting devices. I wish I had been able to see the gardeners do the watering, as it must be done from above; they told me it’s a kind of a fascinating show!  In any case, the final effect is just amazing and we do hope the gardeners do not suffer from dizziness while up there!

The brands are not the most luxury ones, they are very good names from a medium level brand, as Patrizia Pepe, Boggi Milano, Bagatt, and design brands as Cedon and Ligne Roset. So you’ll find a very good level of quality beside the fact that’s not a luxury mall.

 

Pfeifen Diehl, the shop that isn’t only about smoking – let’s see why!

In one of the open air aisle of Funf Hofe you can find one of the most rated shops in  this beautiful mall, Pfeifen Diehl, the place for tobacco and pipe lovers, according to the guides and the web.  It is commonly described as one of the most attractive shops, precisely because of  this particular feature.

Let’s see if that is really true.
Yes, it actually is – but inside Pfeifen Diehl there’s a lot more to discover than that.
In fact, this is not only a pipe shop, thought you can read this hint in all of the blog posts you may find all around. It’s a lovely, stylish small shop with a classical style that is perfect not only for pipe smokers and luxurious tobacco lovers, but above all it will be loved by those who search the atmospheres of a time that’s gone. Most of the items and accessories are timeless and directed to a men’s audience and are not only about smoking. Everything is so beautiful and appealing that you would buy everything.
It gave me the impression of a place and a time when men’s elegance was deeply innate and natural, and menswear wasn’t excessively showed off, far from some nowadays dandy like postures.

The two Gentlemen portrayed in this photo were caught in the contemplation of the window, and it wasn’t me who asked them to do that, I swear!
Note for the Ladies: you shouldn’t think that there’s nothing interesting for you there. First of all, most of the attire is a sort of unisex style – and most of all, the shop has a very good selection of leather women’s products and handbags. Now you don’t have any excuses not to visit it.

Eccoci di nuovo a parlare dello shopping nella bellissima Monaco di Baviera; dopo il primo post, passiamo a parlare di altri luoghi celebrati dalle guide, e in questi post scopriremo se hanno ragione oppure no!

 

Funf Hofe, il centro commerciale dal design davvero straordinario
Si tratta di una galleria  commerciale composta da 5 corridoi, da cui il nome. Gli ambienti sono stati progettati da architetti di nome, e devo dire che è stato creato un mood molto elegante e “caldo”, i negozi si estendono su di un’ampia superficie ma c’è un’atmosfera raccolta che fa sentire a proprio agio. Non si percepisce alcuna “forzatura” da centro commerciale! Infatti i punti vendita vanno a creare un centro commerciale naturale che fra l’altro è molto piacevole anche dal punto di vista degli allestimenti.
I punti dedicati al food sono molto belli e tutti rappresentano una vera tentazione, in ogni caso quello che mi attratto di più è Dean and David Fresh to eat , un delizioso caffè all’aria aperta.

Da notare il corridoio con le piante a soffitto a giardino pensile, rampicanti che si fondono con l’illuminazione. L’innaffiatura avviene dall’alto, quindi i giardiniere non deve soffrire di vertigini. Ha un effetto meraviglioso, essere lì è davvero qualcosa difficile da descrivere.
I brand presenti sono di prezzo medio, ci sono anche qui molti nomi italiani, fra cui Max Mara, Bagatt, Patrizia Pepe, Boggi Milano, e in generale molto design, quindi Alessi, Cedon e Ligne Roset.

Pfeifen Diehl, the il negozio di tabacco che non è solo per fumatori – vediamo perchè!

In un cortile esterno del cortile del Funf Hofe troverete il “mitico”, e giustamente segnalato dalle guide, Pfeifen Diehl,  negozio famoso dei prodotti per la pipa. No, non è un negozio di pipe, come nelle guide troverete scritto. Si tratta di un delizioso, bellissimo negozio un po’ vecchio stile ma in una maniera classica e piacevole, perfetta per chi ama le atmosfere eleganti e senza tempo, con oggettistica e accessori classici al maschile non solo per il fumo, ed è così bello che compreresti tutto. Quindi io direi che vale la pena entrare anche e soprattutto se non siete fumatori. A me ha trasmesso la sensazione di un tempo in cui c’era un’eleganza maschile non esagerata, non ostentata, lontana da ogni tipo di  dandysmo ma profondamente innata e mascolina, fatta di aspetti che oggi ahimè si sono perduti. Vi farà ripensare ai vostri padri quando erano giovani, insomma! “Style is important”, dicono sul loro website. E io non potrei essere più d’accordo!
I signori che ho ritratto nella foto erano davvero immersi nella contemplazione della vetrina, non ho chiesto io di farlo!
Per le signore: voi credete di non trovarci nulla, invece hanno anche borse da donna. Ecco, ora non avete più scuse per non andarci.
