Here is the third part of my guide to shopping in Munich; you can read the first and the second part, that were dedicated to fashion shopping.
This time we are not talking about fashion so much. I think food is a very important part of a journey, and this is why, after an opening about a department store, you will read about two foodie destinations not to be missed  in town. Enjoy!

 

Ludwig Beck, 7 floors of shopping and services

Ludwig Beck is a department store in Marienplatz, and I would say it can be considered THE PLACE that all the guides are predictably always talking about, but in a way that in my opinion is maybe a bit exaggerated, this is why I have to somehow get it into the right perspective.

Ludwig Beck offers a fashion selection distinguished  by a strongly reliable style, and this truly is a strong point, but I personally wouldn’t describe Ludwig Beck as the place where you have the shopping of your life; in fact, this well organized 7 floors department store can have a very practical and helpful implication in your  journey,  and so it had for me, as I entered to buy me a sweater and a wool hat in a very cold morning, knowing from the start that I would get the perfect find.
There you will mostly  find  neutral and matching tones, easy to coordinate with one another, but not a distinguished allure or a strong personality, with the exception of some corners or shop in shop with a style that slightly takes the distance from this tendency.
The design and the interiors do not give us appealing or distinct sensations or moods.

Ludwig Beck offers an excellent choice of beauty and many other services, as the bridal day.
They also have a service of Personal Shopper. I would have liked to test it, or at least have a friendly talk with the staff – but remember: I was there on a pre-Christmas Saturday! I have too much respect for the others’ time!

Dallmayr, the delicatessen mecca in Munich

Dallmayr is a  stunning gourmet shop that also has an excellent restaurant. Its fame is very talked about all around, and they’re absolutely right! I am not talking only about fashion, as my  aim is speaking about shopping at 360 degrees.

I decided not to only glance the inside from the windows. No. I took my courage in both hands and entered the store,  and I did this in the same overcrowded pre-Christmas Saturday afternoon of my visit to Ludwig Beck. Only for my readers!

I was astonished from what I found! I discovered an amazing labyrinth of gourmand foods.
The atmosphere and the presentation of the products are really haunting and alluring; it was delightful to walk across the beautiful counters – trying to imagine how the same experience would have been in a less overcrowded moment!
The atmosphere and the mood are very traditional and welcoming, the festive decorations were beautiful but not excessive nor extravagant, and they perfectly matched to the context.  The coffe bar’s motto? Don’t just serve. Perform.
Well, god job, guides and bloggers! You got it!

Hofbraeuhaus, the pub suggested by the guides from all over the world – that belong to the locals

And now Hofbraeuhaus,  that is my suggestion  for a very good lunch option!

Again, we’re talking about a place that is universally suggested and celebrated by journalists, bloggers, guides. I wanted to discover if it’s true or it is, again something that happens when a place gets in a vortex of copy-and-paste information.
Of course, I would never review a restaurant by the culinary point of view. What I want you to know is that at Hofbraeuhaus you will find the locals, and not only a bunch of tourists: here you will meet the Bavarians.
In the weekend many people from Munich wear the traditional Bavarian costumes (as you know, if you want one you can find one at Lodenfrei) , and you’re going to see the kids wearing  their Bayern Munich jerseys.
The adults wearing the traditional dress are going to be very kind with the tourist most cheeky tourists that ask taking a selfie with them (seen it happen personally several times), but don’t forget that this is a very important and authentic moment in the  living of their own heritage and civil identity.

La vera guida allo shopping a Monaco di Baviera: quello che le guide non vi dicono # Ludwig Beck e Dallmayr

Ecco la terza parte della mia guida allo shopping a Monaco di Baviera; potete leggere la prima e la seconda parte della guida, che erano più dedicate alla moda.

stavolta non parleremo tanto di moda penso che il food sia una parte importante del viaggio, ed ecco perché, dopo un’apertura dedicata a un department store, leggerete di due indirizzi “mangerecci” da non perdere. Buona lettura!

Ludwig Beck, 7 piani di shopping e di servizi

Ludwig Beck è un department store che troverete proprio a Marienplatz. Ecco un altro luogo della moda che le guide esaltano, ma in una maniera a mio avviso lievemente eccessiva, e credo di doverlo invece ridimensionare. Si tratta di un department store molto grande e con una selezione composta prevalentemente da capi solidi e molto basic, il che è un punto di forza, ma forse non lo descriverei come il posto dove fare lo shopping della vita; ha avuto un risvolto molto  pratico per me, che ho scelto la praticità di Ludwig Beck, dal momento che avevo bisogno di un maglione più pesante e di  un berretto di lana in una giornata molto fredda – e mi trovavo lì. Troverete, come dicevo,  dei capi e degli accessori molto basic in toni facilmente abbinabili ma senza una linea particolarmente forte in senso stilistico, a parte alcuni corner o shop in shop che si distaccano lievemente dalla questa tendenza.
7 piani, ottimi brand ma una disposizione e degli interni che non trasmettono sensazioni particolari, o avvolgenti.
Ottimi e solidi servizi beauty e di bridal day, non manca proprio nulla. Insomma, qualità unita alla praticità, trovi tutto. Però non trasmette emozioni.
Hanno un servizio di personal shopper; mi sarebbe piaciuto incontrarla o chiedere qualcosa per simpatia, ma ripeto: sabato pomeriggio pre natalizio! Ho detto tutto. Ho troppo rispetto per il tempo del prossimo!

 

Dallmayr, la mecca della gastronomia di Monaco di Baviera

Dallmayr è un negozio di alta gastronomia che è anche ristorante. La sua fama è decantata ovunque, e decisamente a ragione. Non mi sono limitata a prenderne atto o a guardarlo da fuori passandoci davanti. No. Mi sono avventurata in questo splendido labirinto di delizie gastronomiche per voi in un sabato pomeriggio pre natalizio, in mezzo  al pienone (visto cosa faccio per i miei lettori?), e ne sono rimasta assolutamente incantata.

L’esposizione dei prodotti è molto d’effetto, varia ed elegante; è piacevolissimo passeggiare fra i banconi – cerco di immaginare l’esperienza in un momento meno affollato!
iIprodotti sono decisamente di qualità e molto vari, gli allestimenti non scontati.
Si tratta di un’atmosfera molto calda e tradizionale, in cui anche gli addobbi festivi erano piacevoli e adatti al contesto. Ho adorato le uniformi dei dipendenti! Il motto del bar? Don’t just serve. Perform.
Insomma, anche qui le guide ci hanno preso.

Hofbraeuhaus, il locale indicato dalle guide, ma che appartiene ai local

E adesso parliamo di Hofbraeuhaus , aprendo una doverosa parentesi dedicata a un’ottima opzione per il lunch!
Di nuovo, parliamo di un non un locale che viene citato, consigliato, raccontato, recensito da tutti. Anche qui volevo scoprire se viene fatto a ragione oppure se il locale è caduto in un vortice di copia-incolla – come è successo per i negozi.
Non mi permetterei mai di recensire un locale dal punto di vista gastronomico. Dirò che… in questo locale non ci sono solo i turisti: è frequentato davvero dai bavaresi. Anzi, nel weekend vengono qui indossando i costumi tradizionali (se desiderate acquistarne uno, vi ho raccontato qui dove potete trovarlo) vedrete i bambini con la maglia del Bayern. Gli adulti in costume nazionale bavarese sono tutti gentilissimi, sanno che verranno fotografati dai turisti più invadenti e si prestano, ma non dimentichiamo che per loro è un forte ed autentico momenti in cui vivere la propria identità.
