I’ve been to Munich and I loved this beautiful city! Before leaving from Florence, due to my Personal Shopper mentality (aka professional bias) I decided to look for information about shopping in town in advance.
I found lots of suggestions, of course, as Munich is a very elegant and beautiful city – and so are the people living there– but soon I realized that every website, article, blog post was telling me always the same things, like if they all had been copying the same information from one another. It  seemed very weird and unsatisfying to me. Plus, none of the writers had been really visiting the shops.
So I decided that the world needed the first hand, insider’s report about shopping in Munich, as seen by an Italian Stylist and Personal Shopper. And here it is.

What makes Shopping so special here is in the Style

First of all, you have to imagine a beautiful, whealthy, elegant city with elegant citizens. Yes, because being rich and being classy do not always come together. It is something we see rarely, indeed! This is one of those lucky cases.
People from Munich have their own distinctive style, made from essentials with clean lines and neutral colors matched in a very classy way.

You can see it by walking through Maximilianstrasse, the luxury shopping street, but it is very clear everywhere you go.
In Maximilianstrasse you can find all the most important international luxury brands and all the Italian fashion designers, so being there makes you feel like you’re in Florence’s Tornabuoni street or in the Quadrilatero in Milan. It is a beautiful street, and it is a graceful “welcome” to those who arrive in Munich, but I do think it would make no sense to have your luxury shopping here rather than in your hometown. I recommend visiting it exactly as if it was a landmark or any other point of interest, because it will give you a fascinating and relaxing sight; everything here is very Munich-like: elegant, balanced, classy. So it’s not about having a crazy shopping session there, it’ more worth a walk where you can meet the spirit of this beautiful city.

 

Why you should visit Lodenfrey

Lodenfrey is a gorgeous  department store. At the entrance you can tell immediately from the appearance and the atmosphere that you’re going to enter a world apart.
The interior colors are warm and neutral , the lighting is soft and natural to make your experience comfortable, these same tones are used also in the accessories and the carpets.
In many parts of the department store you can find beautiful corners with small cafeteria areas, where you can relax with a coffee ad a glass of white wine during your shopping.
I have to say that the clients have a unique style, too, and it melts wonderfully with the mood of this place.  The first thing that caught my eyes was a detail of the client’s outifts: everyone – and I really mean it – was wearing scarves in the soft, neutral tones I was previously talking about. Mostly greige, from medium to light. This incredibly made my black coat and Burberry scarf look too bold and showy for the moment and place!
Just to get you the idea, the youngest ladies in Lodenfrey were wearing the latest See by Chloe collection. I don’t want to point out about a matter of how expensive this can be, I’m writing about their style.

 

Here are some  Shopping Tips from the Personal Shopper

The Lodenfrey’s buyers’ selection is admirably well articulated and methodical, as it definitely is timelessly inspirational.  I do think the selection was conceived for creating a coordinated image even if one should pick any item from every single brand present in the store.

The seasonal decorations were very stylish and elegant, the music, not surprisingly, is inspired by the general mood of the place, and by walking through the stands you are going to meet several times some gorgeous Acqua di Parma corners, and the lovely Irma merchandising; Irma is the ubiquitous “mascotte” of the store. This lovely repetitions communicate the sense of a chic and graceful disposition.

While I was there I happened to think that nothing bad could happen in such a beautiful place – yes, it’s a “Breakfast at Tiffanys” thought!
Remember that your dog is welcome at Lodenfrei. The dogs were all very well-behaved and perfectly groomed, of course.

Note: I read in many an  article that Lodenfrey “is a shop for finding the typical Bavarian clothes”; as you may know by now, this is absolutely false! It is true that at the highest floor you will find the typical Bavarian costumes, but this is not only about that – on the contrary, it represents the smallest part of the product offer.

When I was there I found some presales on some items of every brand, very affordable and appealing at the same time  – as you can imagine, such operation was fulfilled in a very sober and understated way.

Sono stata a Monaco di Baviera  e ho adorato questa bellissima città! Prima della partenza, per via della mia mentalità da Personal Shopper, anche detta deviazione professionale, ho deciso di cercare in anticipo un po’ di informazioni sullo shopping in questa città.
Ho trovato un sacco di suggerimenti, naturalmente, dal momento che Monaco è una città bella e anche molto elegante – e così è anche le gente che la abita – ma ben presto mi sono resa conto che ogni sito, articolo o blog post mi diceva sempre le solite cose, come se tutti si fossero messi d’0accordo a copiare le informazioni l’uno dall’altro (e forse è proprio così..). tutto questo mi è parso davvero strano e anche poco soddisfacente. Inoltre, nessuno degli scrittori sembrava aver davvero visitato i negozi. Quindi ho deciso che il mondo aveva bisogno del report di prima mano e da addetti ai lavori dello shopping  a Monaco di Baviera, visto da una stylist e personal shopper italiana. Ed eccolo qui.

Ciò che rende speciale lo shopping in questa città è lo stile

Prima di tutto, dovete immaginare una città bella ricca ed elegante, con cittadini eleganti. Sì, perché essere benestanti ed avere classe allo stesso tempo non sempre sono cose che vanno in coppia. È qualcosa che si vede davvero di rado! Questo è appunto uno di quei casi fortunati.

A Monaco di Baviera hanno il loro stile distintivo, fatto di pezzi basic e colori neutri abbinati in modo molto semplice ma attento.
Potete vederlo facendo una passeggiata a Maximilianstrasse, la strada dello shopping di lusso, ma è molto chiaro ovunque si vada.
In Maximilianstrasse si possono trovare tutti i più importanti brand del lusso e I fashion designer italiani, quindi si tratta di un posto dove sembra di essere in via Tornabuoni a Firenze oppure a Quadrilatero della moda a Milano. È una strada architettonicamente splendida, ed è un piacevole “benvenuto” per chi arriva a Monaco di Baviera , ma penso che non avrebbe senso fare shopping di lusso qui piuttosto che nella vostra città. Vi consiglio di vistarla esattamente come se fosse un punto d’interesse o un monumento, perché vi darà una vista affascinante e rilassante; tutto qui è molto in stile Monaco di Baviera: elegante, bilanciato, di classe. Non andateci per lo shopping, quindi, ma per incontrare il vero spirito di una città che ha un grande senso del bello!

Perchè dovreste proprio andare da Lodenfrei

Lodenfrei è un  bellissimo  department store. Già all’entrata potete subito dire che dall’aspetto e dall’atmosfera si sta entrando in un mondo a parte. I colori degli interni sono caldi e neutri, l’illuminazione è morbida e naturale per rendere l’esperienza ancora più piacevole, e questi stessi tono ricompaiono anche negli accessori e nei tappeti.

In molte zone di questo department store si trovano dei bellissimi corner con aree cafeteria, dove rilassarsi con un caffè o un bicchiere di prosecco nelle pause dallo shopping (utilizzate soprattutto dagli uomini, ma non solo).
Devo dire che la clientela abituale rispecchia ancora di più il fatto di avere uno stile unico, che si fonde magnificamente con il mood del luogo. La prima cosa che ha catturato il la mia attenzione è stato proprio un dettaglio degli outfit dei clienti: tutti – e intendo proprio tutti – indossavano sciare nei morbidi neutri toni di cui ho parlato prima. Per lo più greige, dal medio al chiaro. Questo, incredibilmente, ha fatto sembrare il mio cappotto nero e la sciarpa Burberry eccessivamente vistosi e bold per la situazione!

Per rendere l’idea, le ragazze più giovani che fanno shopping da Lodenfrei indossano l’ultima collezione di See by Chloe. Non è tanto una questione di prezzo, quanto di stile.

Ed ecco alcuni consigli della Personal Shopper

La selezione fatta dai buyer di Lodenfrei è splendidamente articolata e sistematica, piena di pezzi che ispirano uno stile fuori dal tempo. Penso che la selezione sia stata concepita per la creazione di un’immagine coordinata persino se si dovesse creare un guardaroba prendendo ogni singolo capo da ciascuno dei brand presenti nello store.

Le decorazioni natalizie erano stilose e non invadenti, mentre la musica, senza nessuna sorpresa, è ispirata dal mood generale del posto, e passeggiando fra gli stand incontrerete diverse volte gli eleganti corner di Acqua di Parma e il merchandising di Irma, che è un po’ la mascotte onnipresente di Lodenfrei.

Mentre ero lì ho avuto il curioso pensiero che nulla di brutto potesse mai accadere in un posto così bello e pieno di pace. Anche se era un negozio. Sì, lo so, lo ha già detto la Hepburn in Colazione da Tiffany!

Ricordate che i vostri cani sono ammessi da Lodenfrei. I cani erano tutti molto educati e perfettamente tolettati, naturalmente.

Nota: ho letto in molti articoli che Lodenfrei sarebbe “un negozio dove trovare I tipici costume bavaresi”. Come avrete ormai capito questa notizia è totalmente falsa! È vero che all’ultimo piano è disponibile una selezione con I tipici costume bavaresi, ma iI negozio non è incentrato solo su questo, anzi rappresenta una minima parte dell’offerta. Vi faccio presente che questi costumi fanno parte del vivere del luogo e vengono indossati nel weekend nelle birrerie. Quindi non si tratta di una “souvenir per turisti”.
Anzi, io credo che le guide potrebbero cominciare ad essere un po’ meno “da turista”, che ne dite?

Quando ero là, ma so dal sito che la cosa continua almeno fino ad oggi, c’erano dei pre saldi su alcuni capi di ogni brand, molto appetibili e abbordabili – come potete immaginare, anche quest’operazione è stata realizzata in modo molto sobrio e senza cartelli vistosi!
