Siamotuttiscimmie (We are all Monkeys) is a fashion brand that makes jewels, as well as beautiful t-shirts. But if I have to be sincere, the necklaces are the product that I like most from this brand. These necklaces are nice and fun, but they also tell a story…

It happened some time ago. One day, a supporter went to a football match with the idea of bullying a colored player. He threw a banana at him while he was about to take a corner kick. The player did not give a second thought: he simply picked the banana up and ate it, then he resumed  the game.
“I just tried to give a smart answer to a racist attack”, he explained after the fact. The player was  Dani Alves from Barcelona.

Well, if you know me enough, you should know that I love football, but I’m not exactly a supporter of Barcelona. I’m definitely more  a Real Madrid person. Nevertheless this story was astonishing, so I remembered it for a long time.

After that, many decided to start using the hashtag #weareallmonkeys and in the following days lots of people posted their “portraits with a banana”.  This was something with a deep meaning, with an ironic and playful attitude; it worked very well thought they were talking about something very serious.

Siamotuttiscimmie è una collana, ma anche una t-shirt. E devo dire che le collane sono la cosa che mi piace di più di questo brand. Perché sono carine e anche divertenti, ma oltre a ciò raccontano una storia…

La storia nasce qualche tempo fa. Un giorno un tifoso  andò allo stadio e decise di tirare una banana a un calciatore di colore. Lui non si scompose: raccolse la banana e se la mangiò. “Ho cercato di dare una risposta intelligente a un’aggressione”, ha spiegato poi il giocatore, che era Dani Alves del Barcellona.
Allora, chi mi conosce sa che il calcio lo seguo, ma che non sono proprio tifosa del Barcellona – direi piuttosto del Real da sempre!
Però questa storia mi aveva colpito. Partì l’hashtag  #siamotuttiscimmie e per un po’ tutti sui social hanno pubblicato i loro selfie con la banana. Certo, un’iniziativa dal forte significato simbolico, ma anche ironica e giocosa, sebbene per parlare di una cosa seria.
