How BTO is making the World a Better Place

In a few days we’ll be at BTO in Florence, and we’re excited. It is always a great event for those who work in the Tourism Business. It is a great opportunity for meetings and networking, as well as for attending useful and fascinating workshops.

With its 125 slots, 125 different events, This year, BTO is becoming more and more one of the most important events for on line tourism in Europe. I think choosing among so many events is quite hard, but I’m glad to say that I already have my own “program”, and can’t wait to enjoy it!

The motto is “Mind the Gap”: from the warning of the London Subway, watch out and don’t go into dangers, but most of all, go beyond and fill in the gap using your mind!

Before working on BTO, a lot of street interviews were made among the tourists in Florence, Milano, Rome and Venice about the apps they were using in their journeys, and the results were astonishing, first of all because of the several apps that they were considering, and also because this made us get to a very interesting idea: that nowadays journeys are 100% on line. Not only for the booking of course, but because you are connected while travelling and particularly BEFORE leaving. Travellers start dreaming about the journey on the web weeks before!

We are about to meet extraordinary guests, as Serena Riglietti,  the cartoonist of the italian version of Harry Potter (I definitely have to ask her about her HP1 cover!) and Alex Bellini, an adventurer famous for crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a rowing boat, alone. Emirates will be present, too. So now I have to give you an anticipation…
In January I’ll fly to Dubai for some days holidays, because I really want to discover this “shopping paradise”. I will obviously fly with Emirates. I have to say that I’m discovering this world little by little and I’m loving it.
The Emirates group has existed for only 28 years. It’s much more than a flying company, its growing has been incredible especially in the management of wide range tourism, and it’s getting more and more strong. You probably already know about their famous ICE (Information Communication Entertainement) system on board, with whom one can choose among hundreds of channels on demand. Not only I am looking forward to visiting Dubai, but also to flying with Emirates!

So you see, I’m perfectly in the mood for this BTO edition, because I’m dreaming about the journey on line before leaving! Don’t you think that if you work by being perfectly aware of this situation your work will get done in a better way? Is it possible to make the world a better place by making journeys a little bit better? I hope so!

These are some of the things we will find at the BTO this year, so I’ very excited and can’t wait to be there.

Come la BTO rende il mondo un posto migliore

Fra pochi giorni a Firenze parte la BTO, e come tutti gli altri partecipanti non sto più nella pelle. È sempre un evento grandioso per chi lavora nel settore del turismo. E’ anche una grande opportunità per incontrare persone nuove del proprio settore e fare networking, oltre naturalmente per frequentare seminari utili e affascinanti.

Con I suoi 125 slot, vale a dire ben 125 eventi diversi, quest’anno la BTO diviene sempre di più uno dei più importanti punti di riferimento per il turismo on line in Europa.

Penso che scegliere fra così tanti eventi sia difficile, ma posso dire di aver già creato un mio programma personalizzato, e non vedo l’ora di godermelo!

Lo slogan della manifestazione è Mind the Gap: dall’avvertimento della metro di Londra, il significato è “fate attenzione e non mettetevi nei guai”, ma soprattutto, “vai oltre e riempi il vuoto usando la tua mente”.

In vista della preparazione della BTO, sono state fatte moltissime interviste fra turisti in strada, a Firenze, Milano, Roma e Venezia, chiedendo loro che app stavano usando durante il loro soggiorno. E i risultati sono stati sorprendenti, prima di tutto per via delle moltissime app che sono venute fuori, ma anche perché oggi, il viaggio, è al 100% on line. Perché è on line non soltanto per la prenotazione, ovviamente, ma perché sei connesso mentre viaggi, e addirittura PRIMA di partire. I  turisti cominciano a sognare il viaggio sul web settimane prima della partenza!

Incontreremo ospiti straordinari, come Serena Riglietti, la  disegnatrice della versione italiana di Harry Potter, (devo assolutamente chiederle idi spiegarmi il significato della cover di HP1!) e Alex Bellini, esploratore famoso per le attraversate oceaniche a remi in solitaria. Sarà presente ache Emirates. Quindi adesso devo farvi un’anticipazione…

A gennaio volerò a Dubai per una breve vacanza, perché ho davvero voglia di scoprire questo paradiso dello shopping. Ovviamente volerà con Emirates. Devo dire che sto scoprendo questo mondo a poco a poco e che lo sto amando.
Il gruppo Emirates esiste da soli 28 anni. È molto più di una semplice compagnia di volo, sta crescendo in maniera incredibile nella gestione di turismo di larga scala, e diventa sempre più forte.
Probabilmente già sapete del loro famoso ICE (Information Communication Entertainement) System a bordo, con cui si può scegliere fra centinaia di canali on demand. Non solo non vedo l’ora di visitare Dubai, ma anche di volare con Emirates.
Quindi, come potete vedere, sono perfettamente nel mood di questo edizione della BTO, perché sto sognando il mio viaggio prima ancora di partire!
Non pensate che se un operatore è perfettamente conscio di questi aspetti svolgerà il suo lavoro in modo molto migliore? Renderemo il mondo un posto migliore con i nostri ed altrui viaggi? Forse!

Queste sono solo alcune delle cose che vedremo alla BTO quest’anno, quindi sono molto impaziente e non vedo l’ora di esserci.
