10 Useful Tips for being Amazing in a White Shirt

The white shirt is considered a great clothing classic, and from what I see from the manuals it is considered as a magic wand that makes any outfit perfect without any effort.
Althougth we all have one in our wardrobe, it must be considered as a very basic piece of clothes. The white shirt is not that miracle item that some editorial staff and bloggers are telling us fairy tales about.
I sometimes have the feeling that some are overrating this piece and its power. To be honest, what most writers seem to miss is the fact that the white shirt is so basic. It has no personality, because it has to be so, in fact it has to be a non-personality item.
Besides that, the optical white we generally think of isn’t good to all complexions, and moreover not every shirt style works good on everyone.

The rules for the choice of a white shirt are the same as for any other apparel, and I would suggest pay specific attention to some points, depending on what is your aim and lifestyle, too.

Here are some quick tips to keep in mind.

• Consider finding the right tone of white: which one is best for your skin tone?
• Are you in need of  corporate style or not?
• The type of collar
• Button down?
• Will you wear cufflinks?

Do we have to only follow rules? No, because we always should think about our every single piece of clothes as something we can relate and mix to some others in our wardrobe in several different occasions.

It is not recommended to wear a white shirt with baggy or informal jeans, while you could correctly wear it with a pair of elegant chino trousers, and, of course, with a belt that is a little more “sporty” than usual; as regards the shoes, of course loafers are a very good choice, or desert boots if you are a lover of these shoes. Stylish sneakers can be a good option.
A jacket will not make this outfit too formal, as our aim is to get a good casual chic style. But which kind of jacket should you choose? We have to be careful not to make the upper part of the outfit look too elegant , so a casual jacket or a single breasted blue blazer. Obviously, no tie is required.

La camicia bianca è considerata un classico universale dell’abbigliamento, insomma un altro di quei capi considerati quasi “magici” in tutti manuali. Vero è che tutti noi ne possediamo almeno una. Eppure si tratta di un capo assolutamente basic.
Ho la netta sensazione che sia in atto una sopravvalutazione di questo semplice capo, che francamente non possiede alcuna personalità definita, anzi è un non-capo in un certo senso.
Oltre a ciò, il bianco non sta bene a tutti gli incarnati, e non tutti gli stili donano a tutti.
Insomma, la camicia bianca non è quell’oggetto miracoloso che le redazioni e i blog ci raccontano.

Le regole per la scelta della camicia bianca sono le stesse per tutti gli altri capi, e anzi ci sono  molte cose a cui stare attenti.

Ecco alcuni aspetti da ricordare:

• Il tono di bianco
• Lo stile più o meno corporate
• I vari tipi colletto
• L’abbottonatura
• La scelta  di indossare gemelli o meno

Cominciate a capire come mai non è proprio una scelta da prendere alla leggera?

Anche in questo caso l’abbinamento coi jeans non eccessivamente larghi o informali ma anche con dei chino eleganti e naturalmente una cintura più “sportiva” del solito, e come scarpe mocassini o desert boot. Variante: al posto dei mocassini un paio sneakers il più possibile smart.

Aggiungo una giacca? Occhio a non far sembrare la parte superiore dell’outfit troppo formale, perché l’insieme ne risentirebbe. Giacca sportiva, oppure blazer blu monopetto. Ovviamente niente cravatta, in questo caso.
