110 years of Doria: no, it’s not a joke, and yes, it’s a lot of time in the fashion system! This year Doria 1905 is celebrating 110 years from its birth. It was 1905 when Mr. Doria opened a small tailoring workshop at Maglie, where some artisans created their first hats. This year Doria celebrates with a capsule collection, a tribute to Salento lands of the early 20^th century, with the greens of pine and olives,  the colors of the rocks, the tuff, earth and Malvasia.

Let’s see some more history… In 1937, in the Dixieland era, the workshop became an atelier. Doria’s work became a tribute to the jazz era.
2012 was a watershed moment: Doria 1905 made it to the rebirth of the brand, with a collection made of revival, tradition and sophistication.
110 years of passion for tailoring and crafting.

At Pitti 87 I saw a beautiful collection, and it was a great surprise to me seeing the colors and materials of the winter 2015/16. What was just great and surprising was  the packaging… a luxury packaging studied to get the best performance, and a very pratical solution too, because it occupies a very small space when closed. Beauty and practicality together, that’s not bad!

110 anni di Doria 1905: no non è uno scherzo, e sì, è un sacco di tempo per chi lavora nel fashion system! Quest’anno Doria 1905 celebra 110 anni dalla sua nascita. Era il 1905 quando Doria aprì un piccolo workshop artigianale a Maglie, dove alcuni artigiani creavano i loro primi cappelli. Quell’anno Doria festeggiò il traguardo con una capsule collection, un tributo alla terra del Salento nei primi anni del ‘900, con i verdi dei pini e degli olivi colori delle rocce, del tufo, della terra e del malvasia.

Nel 1937, nell’epoca del Dixieland, il workshop divenne un atelier. Il lavoro di Doria divenne un tribute all’era del jazz.
Il 2012 ha rappresentato un momento spartiacque: Doria 1905 ha attuato una vera rinascita del brand, con una collezione fatta di revival, tradizione e raffinatezza.
110 anni di passione per la sartorialità e l’artigianalità.

Al Pitti 87 ho visto una bellissima collezione, ed è stata una grande sorpresa per me scoprire i colori e i materiali dell’inverno 2015/16.  Quello che poi era davvero grandioso era il packaging…. Lussuoso studiato per performance di Massimo livello come estetica, ma anche pratico: infatti in negozio occupa uno spazio molto piccolo, una volta chiuso. Bellezza e praticità insieme, non male!
