A Journey to Dubai #4: the Mall of the Emirates

This one is about the first very famous shopping mall in Dubai, the one that started the tradition of great luxury and cool shopping experience in the UAE: the Mall of the Emirates.

It used to be the greatest of all, but now this record belongs to the Dubai Mall. Anyway, the Mall of the Emirates still stands as one of a kind place and is extremely captivating. Let’s see why.

Reason n 1: it is still THE luxury mall in Dubai. In fact, its architecture and atmosphere stays the same and still rules. Here you will not feel “cuddled” as in the Dubai Mall, but you’ll live a great luxury shopping experience. No sofas  or relaxation areas, or food areas, nor even  disposable for all free wi-fi, because here you need to have a UAE phone number to use it.
I was there during the very well known Shopping Festival, that is known for being the best moment to have shopping in Dubai, as the brands should offer  good sales discounts.
Don’t expect them to be real discounts. There are discounts only on some pieces, and not everywhere – so real luxury is still real luxury here.

Reason n.2: Ski Dubai. It is a ski dome, where you can practice several winter sports, ski, sleight and snowboard, and take lessons. There’s a nice cafeteria in Alpine hut style.  There’s even an area where you can meet and interact with penguins. BUT all of these activities must be booked in advance, so don’t forget about that before leaving! I’m not the sporty kind of person, so I didn’t want to have this experience when I was there. Anyhow, you’ll have the opportunity of be astonished by it only looking, I swear.

Questo è il quarto e ultimo articolo sullo shopping a Dubai. Potete leggere il primo sul Dubai Mall, il secondo e il terzo qui.
Questo post sarà sul primo e forse più famoso mall di Dubai: Mall of the Emirates.

In origine era il mall più grande del mondo, e per questo è rimasto giustamente famoso; ora però questo record appartiene al Dubai Mall. In ogni caso Mall of the Emirates  è ancora un luogo unico e estremamente affascinante. Vediamo perché.

Motivo #1: è ancora il vero mall del lusso di Dubai; infatti, la sua architettura e la sua atmosfera  sono ancora quelli che lo hanno reso tale e sono ancora top. Qui non ci si sentirà certo coccolati come al Dubai Mall, ma di certo potrete vivere una  vera luxury experience esclusiva. Non ci sono divanetti disponibili o aree relax nè tantomeno delle zone carine e friendly dedicate al food, niente  wi fi accessibile a tutti: qui per usufruirne è necessario avere un numero degli UAE.
Ci sono andata come sapete nel periodo del celeberrimo Festival dello Shopping, in gennaio, il momento migliore per lo shopping a Dubai, perchè si presume che I vari brand facciano significativi sconti. In realtà, non aspettatevi che si tratti di sconti veri e propri. Ci saranno dei ribassi solo su alcuni pezzi, e non ovunque – quindi il vero lusso è ancora vero lusso, qui. 

Motivo #2: Ski Dubai. Si tratta di uno ski dome, dove è possibile praticare varie forme di sport invernali, sci, slittino, snowboard e prendere lezioni. C’è anche un delizioso rifugio in stile alpino. È stata persino creata un’area in cui si può interagire con dei pinguini.
MA tenete conto che tutto ciò che potete fare qui dentro va prenotato in anticipo, quindi non dimenticate di farlo prima della partenza!
Io non sono il tipo sportivo, quindi non ho provato questo tipo di esperienza quando ero là. In ogni caso, avrete l’opportunità di rimanere basiti solo ad un’osservazione esterna dalla maxi vetrata, garantito.
