A Journey to Dubai #3: Dubai Marina and Marina Mall

Here we are, this is the third part of my reportage about shopping in Dubai. In the first two posts I wrote about the Dubai Mall, and you can find them here and here: have a nice time reading them!
There are very many places for shopping in Dubai, and today I would like to talk about one that is very peculiar: here you will feel relaxed and have a nice day walking in the open air.

The Dubai Marina Mall is in the Marina district. What kind of place is that? Well, here the UAE ingeneers did their best; building islands over the sea like in the Palm Island was not enough for them: they decided to build a canal that passes through the district, so in fact they brought the sea… inside the desert! It goes through the skyscrapers of this beautiful amazing district, creating great sightseeing angles.

The Marina Mall is a beautiful and peaceful place. If you’re staying in an apartment during your holiday that is the right place for healthy and high quality food shopping. Everything is well organized and the spaces are liveable and bright in a very pleasant way. When you are there you can even forget that you’re living in a large city.

Tourists, expats and locals were walking outside, in a calm and dreamy  atmosphere, in this beautiful sunny day: talking with a lady who lives in one of the Marina skycrapers, she told me that I was very lucky not to have a not a even a little bit of haze.  I stayed there till the sunset, because I wanted to take pics of that beautiful light.

Dubai Marina is served by a tram line that goes round it in circle letting you reach every part of it – a stop obviously is dedicated to the Mall, so you can just go there directly if you only want to go shopping and don’t feel like having a walk. I decided to have a tour on it, because I wanted to see the width of the area – and just out of curiosity, as I wanted to meet someone from the area and have a talk and get some tips!

This district is full of nice restaurants and bistrots of any kind and for all price categories. I decided not to try them, as simply being there, sitting on a bench in the shadow of the trees watching the yachts and the people passing by was a relaxing yet fascinating experience.
I had the chance to be there in one of the best parts of the year, because in winter the temperature in Dubai is just great: about 25 degrees, sunny, with a nice gentle breeze. So I could walk taking photos and looking around, to feel surrounded by the true essence of this city and this world, that is cosmopolitan, elegant yet and truly peaceful.

Eccoci al terzo appuntamento con i miei consigli per lo shopping a Dubai! Trovate dedicati al Dubai Mall qui e qui. Se non li avevate ancora visti vi auguro una buona lettura!
Ci sono molti  posti per fare shopping in questa città spettacolare, e ve ne presento uno molto vicino a noi, più rilassato e vicino alla natura e alla vita all’aria aperta.
Il Dubai Marina Mall è appunto nel quartiere della Marina. Di che cosa si tratta? Agli ingegneri di Dubai non è bastato costruire delle isole là dove c’era solo mare, cioè la Palm Island, hanno anche portato il mare in mezzo al deserto. Infatti la Marina è composta di due passeggiate, la più spettacolare delle quali è attorno a un canale che passa in mezzo ai grattacieli bellissimi di questo incredibile quartiere.

Il Mall è molto bello, tranquillo e con molto da vedere. Se qualcuno di voi alloggia in appartamento, l’area dedicata al food è molto piacevole, di alta qualità, fruibile. Insomma, un’esperienza che fa dubitare a di essere in una grande metropoli.

Ho visto  turisti, locali e persone originarie del posto che passeggiavano, in un clima di serenità e calma, e in una giornata bellissima: ho chiacchierato con una signora che vive in uno dei grattacieli, e mi ha detto che era un miracolo che quel giorno non vi fosse nemmeno un po’ di foschia. Così ho atteso l’ora del tramonto per fotografare quella luce meravigliosa.

Il quartiere Dubai Marina è servito da una linea di tram che lo attraversa tutto. Io per curiosità ci sono salita per rendermi conto delle dimensioni del distretto  – e anche per divertirmi e conoscere un po’ di gente durante il viaggio, lo confesso! Una delle fermate  è naturalmente dedicata al Mall, come potete immaginare.

Il quartiere è letteralmente tappezzato di ristoranti e caffè di ogni tipo e di ogni livello! Io ho preferito restare fuori su una panchina a godermi la vista degli yacht di lusso e del mondo che passava di lì. ho approfittato del bellissimo periodo dell’anno: in inverno a Dubai le temperature sono primaverili, sui 25 gradi, con un venticello splendido, e ho passeggiato a lungo scattando foto e guardandomi attorno, e credo di aver capito molto di questo luogo, che è davvero cosmopolita, elegante e molto tranquillo.
