Every year we have to ponder our options for the NYE outfit. We have two choices: wearing something we already have, or going out and buy something.
In the first situation, we must hope that these clothes have been well kept and still are fashionable. In the second one, we might be able to find the perfect dress, but chances are that we might not make it.
So I decided to give you some last second style tips for this occasion. I also decided to divide them into three different parties you may want to take part: the house dinner party, the informal house party, the NYE Ball at a Villa (or at a fancy restaurant, you get me).

Style tips for your NYE House Dinner Party 

Whatever you want to do, you should be aware that it would not be polite to exaggerate with the style of your outfit. Wearing a “gran gala” dress would not be appropriate! You should try to wear something elegant but toning it a little bit down. You probably already know the other ladies and their habits, , so avoid the long golden lame evening dress if you know that most of them will wear a conservative black gown.  I personally attended house parties where the ladies were wearing pants.
You probably should opt for a black dress with the length at your knees. It’s all about the etiquette here!

Style Tips for the Informal NYE House Party 

This tip is going to be about style, and not the etiquette or dress codes.
Yes, because this is going to be an informal, relaxed situation. It’s the tipical occasion during which you meet your friends or make some new ones. So you have to keep it real: you are wearing something cute and special and dressier than your average, with a special make up or hairstyle.
There is a little thing that some girls do in this case. They wear the clothes that they usually do during the day.
Whatever you have in mind, do not wear your office clothes for a party!
I know what you are thinking: a tailleur is elegant. But the truth is that it’s a conservative, working women attire.
Trust me and wear a short dress or a top with some sparkle or show some cleavage. Leave that jacket home.

Style Tips for the Formal NYE Party at a Villa

Ok girls, here everything is about the tone. The tone must be stylish, elegant and a little bit sassy. You are not a friend’s house and you’ll probably meet lots of people you do not even know anything about, so you’ll be outside of your confort zone. Time to go bold!
Wearing a long or a short dress is related to the dress code of the evening. But do not hesitate to choose something shiny or daring. Also, probably the dress code will be about wearing black. Do the style and the details  are going to be the only thing that will make you unique.

And now, the Most Important Tip of All…

Just keep in mind that you shouldn’t try to be someone else, because an edgy outfit should make you feel at ease, and not really feeling it is the last thing that we want, right? For instance: go to the hairdresser and add extentions if you want to, but do not opt for a big updo beauty queen style if you never wear this hairstyle. Or try a different make up, but try not to wear something that is too different from the real you: no  false eyelashes if you barely wear any make-up.

Si avvicina il 31 dicembre, e si comincia a pensare a cosa indossare nella fatidica sera.
La cosa migliore sarebbe avere nell’armadio uno o due abiti o insiemi adatti all’occasione in modo da non arrivare impreparati a inviti inaspettati. Non tutti però sono così previdenti, organizzati o attenti al guardaroba, per cui vi si pongono di fronte due opzioni: indossare qualcosa che avete già, con la speranza che sia in ordine e non sia del tutto superato. Oppure, uscire e comprare qualcosa all’ultimo minuto. Che non sempre è un’idea felice, ma a volte si rende inevitabile.

Consigli per la festa in casa

Se siete invitati a una festa in casa, non strafate. Non ha senso indossare un abito lungo in lamè quando tutte le altre invitate saranno molto probabilmente in nero, o addirittura in pantaloni. Gli abiti da gran sera conservateli per le occasioni più adatte! Averli nell’armadio non è un buon motivo per indossarli come se non ci fosse un domani.

Consigli per la festa informale in casa

Ho solo un consiglio per voi, visto che qui il dress code sarà più libero: non indossate gli abiti da lavoro. Si vedono spesso ragazze che hanno accettato di partecipare alla festa ma, sentendosi poco convinte, manifesteranno questo loro stato d’animo anche nel look, ed ecco che, avvolte nel loro tailleur da lavoro, osservano statiche quelle in little black dress che si scatenano in pista da ballo. Anche con la vostra t-shirt da ufficio con  con due brillantini due (il massimo dell’anticonformismo tipico di chi indossa il tailleur alle feste), il blazer è fuori luogo. Credetemi. indossate un abito carino e corto.

Consigli per chi partecipa al veglione

Anche se avete deciso che avrete un look diverso dal solito, non permettete alla parrucchiera di spersonalizzarvi completamente. Vale a dire, non applicate extension in grande quantità realizzando acconciature à la Pompadour se di solito viaggiate in jeans. Sì, lo so, è d’effetto. Però non vi fa apparire “sorprendenti”. Potrebbe farvi sentire inadeguate e vagamente eccessive, e sicuramente fuori tono con lo stile della festa. realizzate un bel make-up e per una volta cambiate qualcosa nell’hair styling: se avete sempre i capelli sciolti legateli, se di solito li piastrate per una volta lasciateli voluminosi.
